Huawei - to ban or not to ban?

    Which way for Huawei?

Australia is the latest country following the U.S. and India to ban Huawei from bidding to supply equipment to networks considered to be a critical part of national infrastructure.

The US and and Indian moves are economic protectionism. Huawei makes damn fine products (at a reasonable price).

Huawei has formed influential ANC partnerships in SA which make it 'untouchable'. It can bring in Chinese staff rather than hiring locally, and it can fire employees without due process and with impunity. Local staff are given symbolic roles but have no real authority - they don't attend strategic planning, they don't typically sign off anything of consequence and they don't even see the important communication (which is all in Chinese). Most (if not all) are on 12m contracts so there would be consequences if they spoke out if they suspected fishy deals.
