The most beautiful bank notes in the world
The International Bank Note Society has published its Bank Note of The Year winner for 2016.
Banknotes nominated must have been issued to the public (specimens and non-circulating currencies are ineligible) for the first time during the year of the award, and must have artistic merit and/or innovative security features, and be in general circulation.
Once public nominations were closed, the overall winner was decided by a vote of the IBNS, who considers the artistic merit, design, use of colour, contrast, balance, and security features of each nomination.
The 2016 winner for note of the year was the Swiss 50 Franc hybrid note, with the 2015 winner being the New Zealand 5 Dollar note.
