Facebook now reaches 2 billion people every month
Social network Facebook has announced there are now two billion people connecting and building communities on its site every month.
Over 150 million people connect on the site each day, and more than one billion people use Facebook groups every month.
“As of this morning, the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people!
We’re making progress connecting the world, and now let’s bring the world closer together. It’s an honor to be on this journey with you,” said CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
Facebook is by some distance, the largest social media network, with YouTube attracting 1.5 billion monthly users, WeChat at just under 900 million, while Twitter attracts just under 330 million users monthly.
A report by Forbes a year ago stated that as many as 14 million South Africans use Facebook each month – representing a 16.6% increase over the past quarter.
In September 2015, the social media giant said that South Africa had 12 million monthly active users.
