New Land Rover Discovery set to launch in SA this week – prices
Jaguar Land Rover is set to launch the all-new Discovery in South Africa this week, with prices starting at a fraction under R1 million.
The group claims that the fifth-generation Discovery is its most capable and versatile three-row, seven-seat SUV to date.
The all-new Discovery features an intelligent, permanent Land Rover 4WD system to deliver all-weather and all-surface capability.
The standard twin-speed transfer gearbox features an additional set of lower gears which can prove invaluable in challenging driving conditions. The heart of this system is the electronic centre differential that offers a 50:50 torque split between front and rear axles with the ability to pre-emptively lock the axles before slip commences.
The company noted that the low-range gears are automatically selected when drivers engage off-road driving programmes for rock crawling or mud ruts.
The vehicle claims ground clearance of 283mm, and has a maximum wading depth of 900mm.
