Here’s the new load shedding schedule for the week ahead
Update:
Eskom has given yet another load shedding update.
The group said that due to lower than expected demand, load shedding will remain suspended for longer on Sunday, and will return at stage 1 in the evening before being suspended again overnight.
Stage 2 load shedding will return on Monday, and will continue until further notice.
Here is the updated schedule:
Sunday, 21 January
- Suspended: 00h00 to 18h00
- Stage 1: 18h00 to 22h00
- Suspended: 22hh00 to 00h00
Monday, 22 January
- Suspended: 00h00 to 05h00
- Stage 2: 00h00 to 00h00
Original:
Despite the improvements in generating capacity, Eskom says that the heightened focus on planned maintenance – and the expected increase in electricity demand – necessitates the implementation of Stage 2 load shedding.
Stage 2 load shedding will kick in from 16h00 on Sunday until further notice.
A total of 765MW of generation capacity is expected to return to service later tonight, and the evening peak demand forecast for Sunday is 24,383MW.
Eskom said it will communicate should any significant changes occur.
The utility suspended load shedding late on Saturday evening and announced a brief break from outages for most of the day on Sunday.
