CemAir has announced the launch of a new domestic route between George, Western Cape, and Hoedspruit, Limpopo, with flights starting from May 17, 2026.

The airline said that the new strategic route grows its network, offering passengers a convenient link between the safari-rich Lowveld and the picturesque Garden Route.

The new route will operate three times per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a limited schedule on Sundays.

CemAir will increase the frequency of flights as demand grows, which it said will ensure convenient connections between these key destinations.

Flights start from R4,800, and passengers can enjoy CemAir’s full-service offering, which includes complimentary checked baggage and onboard catering.

“We are pleased to launch a direct connection between Hoedspruit and George — two destinations that showcase the very best of South Africa’s natural beauty,”  said Shaniel Singh, Chief Commercial Officer at CemAir.

“This route removes the need for travellers to transit through major hubs and strengthens local tourism by making travel between the bush and the coast more convenient and accessible.”

The flight schedule of the new route is as follows:

Operating Days: Tuesdays, Thursdays

  • Flight 970: Departs George (GRJ) at 08:10 → Arrives Hoedspruit (HDS) at 10:25
  • Flight 971: Departs Hoedspruit (HDS) at 10:55 → Arrives George (GRJ) at 13:20

Operating Days: Sundays

  • Flight 970: Departs George (GRJ) at 10:05 → Arrives Hoedspruit (HDS) at 12:20
  • Flight 971: Departs Hoedspruit (HDS) at 12:40 → Arrives George (GRJ) at 15:05

The airline said that the new service reinforces its commitment to expanding regional connectivity and supporting the nation’s domestic travel and tourism sectors.

It noted that the new route provides a valuable link for tour operators, safari lodges, and travellers who seek efficient travel between the Kruger area and the Garden Route.

CemAir is South Africa’s second-largest airline by number of flights, and operates from key bases in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the airline offers trips to 16 destinations across South Africa and surrounding regions.
