Stage 1 load shedding hits
·3 May 2015
Stage 1 load shedding will take place from 17:00 until 22:00 on 3 May due to a shortage of generation capacity.
Eskom said several of its units are “currently out of service due to maintenance”, and this is the cause of the controlled blackouts.
The load shedding announcements follows a 28 April statement by Eskom which said the company had performed planned maintenance on 2,303MW of power generating units.
Eskom also returned 1,453MW of generating capacity back to service over this period, it said.
