Nedbank extends application facility

Banking group Nedbank says its App Suite is now available to consumers using Android tablets, iPhones and iPads. The app is already available for Android handset users.

“Through the launch of the app suite Nedbank has taken a step closer to achieving our goal of empowering clients to do all their banking even more securely, anytime, anywhere,” said Anton de Wet, managing executive, client engagement.

“Android handset users have been using the Nedbank App Suite for a month now and the response has been very positive. Thanks to the ongoing feedback from users we have been able to enhance the digital experience, complementing the best in class security and architecture that forms the foundation of the app suite,” said Fred Swanepoel, Nedbank CIO.

Nedbank says its App Suite is the latest in a list of digital innovations, building on from Approve-it (TM), the online security structure, and MyFinancialLife (TM), a secure online personal financial management tool which has already launched to Nedbank staff and will soon be released to market.

“We are confident that Apple and Android users will benefit from the first to market online share trading offering, batch and beneficiary authorisations as well as password reset capability for our business clients, and other useful NedApps for mobile banking,” added Swanepoel.

Clients who have a primary account with Nedbank have the additional benefit of carrying out balance enquiries, payments and transfers. Similarly, clients who have stockbroking accounts with BoE Stockbrokers or Nedbank Online Share Trading will be able to view their portfolio and trade in local equities.

All Nedbank App Suite users have access to branch and ATM locators, forex calculators, application lead forms and more, the group said.

The bank stressed that BlackBerry and feature phone users would not have to wait long for the Nedbank App Suite, with the complete roll-out anticipated before the end of the year.

“Consumers using the Microsoft operating system will have access to the Nedbank App Suite next year,” Nedbank said.

“The Nedbank App Suite is unique in that it will be available on smart phones as well as a range of feature phones. It is our intention to provide an easy to use app that is safe, convenient and available to as many South Africans as possible, in support of our bank for all strategy,” said Swanepoel.

The Nedbank App Suite can be downloaded from The Google Play Store or from the Apple App Store.
