Absa Capital website security warning

Google is warning users that the EFT section of the Absa Capital website contains malware and is “very likely to infect your computer”.

Google Chrome is currently blocking access to etf.absacapital.com, warning users that visitors may suffer “identity theft, financial loss, and permanent file deletion”.

“Of the 2 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 2 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent,” Google explained.

“The last time Google visited this site was on 2012-12-31, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2012-12-31.”

According to Google, malicious software is hosted on 1 domain(s), including donationwarecallers [dot] info.

“1 domain(s) appear to be functioning as intermediaries for distributing malware to visitors of this site, including 98.130.247.0/,” Google explained.

Absa was contacted about the Google malware warning, but the company did not respond by the time of publication.
