Capitec Bank revamps its website

 ·29 Nov 2013

Capitec, South Africa’s fastest growing full service retail bank, has revamped its website to provide its customers with a more visually enhanced offering.

The new site, Capitec says, is a notable departure from its previous site, using visual panels instead of lengthy copy to guide users through the experience, while new features include a savings calculator, and “bill splitter”.

“The purpose of the new site is to help users find what they’re looking for quickly and effortlessly. Void of clutter and excess copy, it’s designed on a system of graphic panels that, when clicked, offer relevant information about our Global One product, money management, business services and investor relations,” said Charl Nel, Capitec Bank’s head of communications.

The bill splitter can be used among house-mates who share the rent, when the bill needs to be divided among a big group at a restaurant or when splitting the costs for a weekend away.

While the site offers a raft of educational content, it is done without sacrificing the user experience that is customised for desktop and mobile.

“We overcame this by using signposted panels and clear, straight-talking guides that help users navigate from one page to another. In more complex sections users can filter the panels so as to give them access to only the information they require,” Nel said.

Capitec notes that it had five million clients, R9.1 billion in equity and R42.9 billion in assets as of 31 August 2013.

The bank announced in May, that a dedicated banking app would be coming near the end of its current financial year (February 2014), and would be designed to run on both smart and feature phones.
