Fibre ISP comparison group Fibre Tiger has published a new infographic looking at the rise of fibre connectivity in South Africa versus ADSL, as well as the prominence of the various fibre providers in the country.
The data is taken from Google Trends searches, showing how fibre has become more prolific in search over time, as ADSL has declined.
The results show that even among South African ISPs, fibre is becoming the most sought-after product compared to ADSL. When comparing fibre providers like Vumatel, OpenServe, Octotel, Frogfoot and Fibrehoods, it is also apparent that Vumatel has grown to be the most prominent brand in terms of searches.
Other insight from Fibre Tiger is the graph showing the growth of Netflix, The Pirate Bay and uTorrent – the latter two of which have decreased with the rise of fibre as Netflix has increased.
