Here is the official petrol price for January 2018

The department of energy has published the petrol and diesel price changes which will come into effect on Wednesday, 3 January 2018.

Following five months of increases, motorists will start the new year with a bit of relief, with the price of petrol and diesel decreasing.

93 ULP petrol will decrease by 29 cents per litre, while 95 ULP will be down by 34 cents per litre.

The wholesale price of 0.005% diesel will be down by 26 cents per litre, while 0.05% diesel will be down by 22 cents.

The full changes can be read here.

While the average international product prices of Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased during the period under review, the rand’s strength against the dollar helped lower fuel prices overall.

The rand appreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period.

The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 01 December 2017 to 27 December 2017 was 13.2303 compared to 14.0964 during the previous period.

This led to a lower contribution to the Basic Fuels Price on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 42.03c/l, 42.75c/l and 42.90c/l respectively, the department said.

Here are the official adjustments (inland prices)
