Nedbank’s PocketPOS payment system, in conjuction with iMobilise Transportation Systems, is letting Cape Town taxi commuters pay with their credit cards to get around.

The payment system, called CabPay, is currently available in the Rikkis fleet of taxis in Cape Town.

According to iMobilise, the system is not only a payment system, but also incorporates in-vehicle card, cash and account processing; vehicle and driver financial fleet management; and vehicle trip-log management and reporting.

Passengers who pay with a credit or debit card are given an invoice which is printed as a hard copy, as well as electronically via email.

“The passenger can be assured of the safety of secured information through Nedbank, with no information of credit or debit card info being stored,” the group said.
