ICASA releases shortlist for new council members

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Communications has released a shortlist of candidates to fill three positions on the council of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).

The three new councilors will replace current councilors Thabo Makhakhe, Nomvuyiso Batyi, and Fungai Khumbulani Sibanda, whose contracts expired/will expire on 9 July 2012, 3 August 2012 and 30 September 2012 respectively.

Two of the ICASA councilors – Batyi and Makhakhe – had completed their first term of office on the ICASA Council, but were eligible for serving for a second term. These two candidates therefore formed part of the shortlist.

  • Mr Ashraf Patel
  • Mr Phatang Nkhereanye
  • Mr Thabo Makhakhe

  • Ms Nomonde Gongxeka
  • Mr Manyara Rubben Mohlaloga
  • Mr Ronald Jarvie Seeber
