Samsung South Africa is keeping mum on its plans to fill its vacant managing director position, following the departure of  Deon Liebenberg.

Samsung announced on Tuesday (17 July 2012) that Liebenburg had resigned. BusinessTech reported on Monday (16 July 2012) that former Samsung SA head had joined Telkom as head of Business Mobile.

When queried about who will fill Liebenberg’s post, Samsung said: “To date, we have had no official communication on who will take over.”

Liebenberg was at Samsung SA for a year.

“Samsung Electronics South Africa has a very strong and capable team, and over the past 12 months we have achieved the milestones I was originally tasked with – ensuring Samsung South Africa is a brand synonymous with innovation,” he said.

Prior to joining Telkom Business Liebenberg also served as the vice president and managing director for Africa at Research In Motion (RIM), country manager at Motorola South Africa and the executive head of sales at Vodacom.
