Hisense takes aim at mobile market in SA
Chinese appliance-maker Hisense will launch its range of smartphones in South Africa next month (September).
On its website hisense.co.za, the firm highlights its HS-U8 android 2.3 smartphone as a product “coming soon”.
Marketing director at Hisense SA, Tony Shi told BusinessTech: “Our plan is to launch it (cellphone) in the month of September. It is our smartphone which has a lot of applications that are found on the android system. We sold 8-million units all over the world last year.”
The group also has a “TV tablet” on the market, a devise that operates primarily as a portable TV, but also functions as a tablet with a built in TV chip.
“We will have it on all networks and all leading consumer electronics stores. It is on sale in the USA, Europe, Middle East, China and now Africa,” Shi said.
