ASUS ExpertBook B9 OLED review: A Refreshing Upgrade

 ·26 Jun 2023

The ASUS ExpertBook B9 has always garnered attention as an ideal business laptop, thanks to its powerful, straightforward design and lightweight nature.

Although subsequent generations offered only incremental upgrades in terms of specifications, concerns arose regarding ASUS’ potential stagnation.

However, the first look at the ASUS ExpertBook B9 B9403 pleasantly surprised industry observers with significant internal and external improvements.

One of the most notable upgrades is the introduction of a larger OLED display, a trend embraced by ASUS throughout its laptop lineup.

The previous 16:9 aspect ratio IPS LCD display has been replaced by a stunning 16:10 QHD OLED display, addressing concerns about limited vertical real estate and delivering a visually captivating experience.

The ASUS ExpertBook B9 B9403 retains its slim bezels and incorporates features such as a front camera with Privacy Shutter, IR for Windows Hello, and Motion Tracking for video calls.

While lacking touch functionality, the display cleverly creates the illusion of being touch-enabled, causing users to instinctively attempt interactions with the screen.

Another significant improvement is the enlarged trackpad, offering you even more vertical space for seamless cursor movement.

With a 26.8% increase in size compared to its predecessor, the trackpad also includes an integrated number pad, a feature inherited from the previous model.

Additionally, the ExpertBook B9 now incorporates NFC for quick logins, although the embossed NFC logo on the trackpad may not appeal to all users.

Apart from these noteworthy enhancements, the ASUS ExpertBook B9 B9403 continues to provide an exceptional user experience consistent with the original ExpertBook B9.

The lightweight magnesium-lithium body, weighing just 1.1 kg, remains intact. ASUS has also made commendable efforts in terms of sustainability, reducing manufacturing time by 75% and using 29% less production material.

Under the hood, impressive specifications await, including up to 64GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 13th gen Intel Core processor with vPro support, and PCIe Gen 4 SSDs.

The improved thermal design, featuring two fans, ensures efficient performance management.

The ASUS ExpertBook B9 B9403 not only offers the expected performance upgrades but also significantly enhances the overall user experience with improvements to the trackpad and display.

This laptop is particularly well-suited for business owners seeking the versatility provided by its predecessor.

While there are some trade-offs, such as soldered RAM, it still offers up to 2TB SSD storage capacity.

In conclusion, the ASUS ExpertBook B9 B9403 presents a refreshing upgrade that has generated considerable excitement.

It will be available in South Africa in Q4 2023 for a suggested SRP of R35,999.
