Gen16 Dell PowerEdge servers – Powerful performance for heavy workloads

 ·18 Sep 2023

The new Gen16 Dell PowerEdge servers deliver significant improvements that will handle your business’s heavy workloads with ease.

This is thanks to their support for Intel’s 4th-generation Xeon CPUs and AMD’s 4th-generation EPYC CPUs, up to 8TB of DDR5 memory, Gen5 PCIe technology for double the throughput, and the PERC12 HWRAID controller technology for twice the performance of PERC11.

Equally impressive is the build quality of the Gen16 Dell PowerEdge servers, which has been optimised to deliver more airflow for superior cooling.

Leading South African ICT distributor Axiz can order the following Gen16 Dell PowerEdge servers for its local clients:

  • R660 / R660xs
  • R760 / R760xs
  • R6615 / R7615

These servers are detailed below.

PowerEdge R660/R660xs

The Dell PowerEdge R660 range comprises 1U, two-socket rack servers that are optimised for heavy workloads.

The R660xs is the core offering with support for up to 1TB of DDR5 memory, while the R660 delivers several extra features and more capacity – including support for up to 8TB of DDR5 memory as well as up to three 75W single-wide GPUs. Both models allow you to add up to two Intel Xeon Scalable or Max processors, with the R660xs and R660 supporting up to 32-core and 56-core processors in each slot, respectively.

PowerEdge R760/R760xs

The R760 and R760xs are 2U, two-socket rack servers with the same processor and memory capacities as the R660 and R660xs – but expanded GPU support thanks to their larger size.

The R760xs features two 75W single-wide GPU slots, while the R760 expands on this with two 350W double-wide and six 75W single-wide GPU slots.

If you need increased GPU performance, the R760 and R770xs are both excellent options for your business.

PowerEdge R6615/R7615

The final two new Dell PowerEdge servers available from Axiz are the R6615 and R7615.

Both support AMD EPYC 4th-generation processors and deliver 50% more core count per single socket platform than their predecessors.

The R6615 is a 1U, single-socket rack server that offers 12 DDR5 DIMM slots with support for up to 3TB of memory.

The R7615 shares these capabilities and features a 2U form factor – allowing it to support six 75W single-wide GPU options (four more than the R6615), as well as three 300W double-wide GPU slots.
