LookSee by Standard Bank – Financing a solar system has never been so affordable
LookSee – part of the Standard Bank Group – has officially launched its Solar Loan product in partnership with the Government Energy Bounce Back Loan Scheme.
With solar panel prices at an all-time low, a 25% solar panel tax rebate available, and the government’s new Bounce Back scheme supporting lower solar loan interest rates, there has never been a better time to invest in a solar system.
LookSee makes the process of getting your own solar system even more affordable thanks to its new Solar Loan product – which delivers extremely low interest rates up to a maximum of Prime + 2.5%.
This is a huge discount on the average Prime + 7% offered on personal loans, as well as the maximum Prime + 17.5% as stipulated by the National Credit Act.
“Electricity is a monthly cost in all homes, so we can’t offer residential solar loans that will double these households’ electricity costs,” said Marc du Plessis, executive head of LookSee.
“We are trying to offset the monthly loan repayments against each customer’s reduced electricity bill.”
LookSee Solar Loans are available in amounts ranging from R3,000 to R300,000, and are repayable through a flexible plan of between 12 months and five years.
“The benefit of a shorter repayment period means you’ll pay off your solar installation faster and once you are no longer offsetting repayments against your electricity bill, you’ll begin experiencing ‘pure’ savings on your monthly electricity bill,” says du Plessis.
Getting a Solar Loan
LookSee makes it easy to get your solar system installed quickly and affordably – simply follow these three steps:
- Get a solar quote – Get a quote for the solar system you intend to install – either from LookSee or your installer.
- Choose your loan – The LookSee Solar Customer Care Team will help you choose and apply for your preferred loan amount and repayment period. Customers can also go into their nearest Standard Bank branch or consult their banker.
- Pay your installer – Your loan will be paid into your account so you can pay your solar system deposit and schedule your installation.
Solar Score
LookSee’s commitment to supporting South Africans every step of the way in their solar journey does not stop there, however, and it offers an innovative Solar Score system to help you plan your solar installation.
Simply enter your address into the online LookSee Solar Score portal, and you will be informed of how effective a solar system will be at your home.
If you are happy with the findings, LookSee’s Customer Care will walk you through the journey of finding an installer, securing finance, and choosing the right solar system.
“We’re a bank, but it is not good enough for us to just lend,” said du Plessis.
“We are taking the next step and helping customers through the end-to-end journey.”
