New and improved Dell PowerEdge servers – Now available from Axiz
South African ICT distributor Axiz has added new Gen16 Dell PowerEdge servers to its portfolio, providing high-performance solutions to companies that run heavy workloads.
The new models deliver huge capability increases across the board thanks to their support for up to 8TB of DDR5 memory, and Intel and AMD’s latest-generation scalable processors – which deliver up to 50% more performance than their predecessors.
The new servers are now available for South African companies to order through Axiz, and include:
- R660 / R660xs
- R760 / R760xs
- R6615 / R7615
We detail the features of each Gen16 Dell PowerEdge server, below.

Potent performance
The new Dell PowerEdge servers boast several improvements over previous generations – including support for the latest scalable CPUs from Intel and AMD.
Intel’s 4th-gen Xeon processors deliver up to 50% increased performance over the previous generation, while AMD’s 4th-gen EPYC Genoa processors use the latest 5nm technology and deliver 25% improved performance over the previous-generation AMD Milan CPUs.
In both cases, you are guaranteed tangible business benefits – including improved processing times and increased efficiency.
These benefits are enhanced by support for DDR5 memory that delivers higher data transfer speeds, lower power draw, and increased bandwidth.
DDR5 memory also adds several Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) technologies that streamline its efficiency, as well as on-die ECC to improve data integrity.
PCIe Gen5 support then doubles the throughput compared to the Gen4 technology, and delivers superb performance benefits to NVMe drives, certain networking cards, and your GPUs.

Thermal benefits
With so many performance improvements to the Dell PowerEdge servers, thermal management is more important than ever before.
Dell understands this, and has improved its new servers’ thermals to a point where they are significantly more efficient than their predecessors – even with more powerful hardware being used.
Key technologies that enable this include the Dell PowerManager software and smart cooling management functionality.
Thermal performance is also greatly enhanced thanks to improved physical server designs that deliver vastly improved airflow to maximise each server’s air-cooling capabilities.
Optional direct liquid cooling (DLC) for your CPUs is also available as an add-on, further enhancing the performance of your systems.
