Entelect welcomes 2024 graduates to the team and opens applications for 2025

 ·1 Feb 2024

As of 2 January 2024, Entelect has welcomed a new 2024 cohort of 70 graduates to their team.

The graduates, from top universities around South Africa, have embarked upon an intensive 10-week Boot Camp programme designed to accelerate their technical and interpersonal skills.

Boot Camp is the start of a journey designed to support graduates in unlocking their potential, bolstered by the structure Entelect has in place to help build their graduates’ career paths in a multitude of areas.

The programme is also an opportunity that allows like-minded people to work together and build relationships that last beyond Boot Camp and well into the graduates’ careers at Entelect.

Benefits of Entelect’s Boot Camp

Unlike other internship or graduate programmes, Entelect graduates start out as full-time Entelect employees.

This provides superior financial security for graduates, as they know they have a guaranteed job once they complete the Boot Camp – something that is often not the case with other graduate programmes or internships.

After completing the Boot Camp programme, graduates move on to customer or internal projects under the mentorship of team and technical leads.

Through these projects, the graduates can add immediate value to Entelect, while also learning how to handle real-world projects earlier in their career.

Entelect graduates can therefore generate superior work experience sooner, helping them grow faster in their careers.

“Boot Camp covers both the practical and theoretical side of end-to-end technology solutions, mimicking real-world scenarios,” said Ahmad Mahomed, Senior Delivery Manager and Entelect Graduate Programme Coordinator.

“All graduates work through this full syllabus, regardless of which solutions stream they will be working on, giving them a rounded understanding of the full software development lifecycle, and the skills most in demand in the global software industry.”

By the time the graduates have moved through the programme, they will have collaborated to write components of systems in various languages and platforms, all of which would have been vetted and code-reviewed by various technical leads.

The team structure and intensive workload also means graduates must learn to prioritise tasks, collaborate and problem-solve together, as they would need to do when on a real project after they complete their boot camp.

“We believe that what we teach our graduates in 10 weeks may take a year to 18 months elsewhere,” added Mahomed.

Impressive success

Since its inception in 2012, Entelect has hired over 560 graduates into the business, comprising over 30% of the total makeup of the company.

Remarkably, over 80% of them are still with the business, 27% of whom are in leadership positions.

The emphasis on collaboration and growth is undoubtedly a reason many graduates remain at Entelect. While on Boot Camp, graduates are taught and have access to the highest levels of senior leadership within the business, who are available as mentors and experts in their fields. These relationships continue long after Boot Camp is complete.

“Building software is a holistic journey that’s more than just tech. It’s about people and adding real value and solutions to customers,” concluded Mahomed.
