Local originals

Catch Me a Killer

This true crime drama’s writers include SAFTA winner Amy Jephta (Skemerdans).

Forensic psychologist Micki Pistorius (Charlotte Hope) becomes South Africa’s first-ever serial-killer profiler during the mid-1990s.

Watch her enter the minds of monsters like The Station Strangler and Stewart ‘Boetie Boer’ Wilken.

Wyfie

In this long-running young adult drama from Homebrew Films (Trompoppie), four mismatched roommates in residence at the fictional Eike university take the leap into “adult” life and choices.

This show features Beata Bena Green, Celeste Loots, Kristen Raath, and Mienke Ehlers, as well as a killer soundtrack by Peach van Pletzen – including the last song that Angie Oeh recorded before her death in August 2023.

Other local originals include reality shows like The Real Housewives of Durban, The Mommy Club, Widows Unveiled, and Youngins.

International series – Only on Showmax

Ted S1

In this prequel to the Ted movie, Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) – the swear bear who was brought to life thanks to a wish by John (Max Burkholder) – is headed to school.

It’s the mid-1990s, John is 16, and Ted must navigate high school bullies and cliques alongside him, while trying to get expelled himself.
