An ever-evolving investment world – an ever-evolving Everest Wealth
First look
The first stock exchange was established in 1602, but the JSE was established in 1887. Private equity was established in the USA in 1946, but in South Africa in the late 1980’s. Jeff Bezos once said that ‘what is dangerous is not change, but to not evolve’ and at Everest Wealth we have embodied this philosophy ensuring that our clients do not continue to be left behind the curve.
Everest Wealth was one of the first investment managers to further evolve and establish a private equity offering focused on retail clients as opposed to only high net worth clients and institutional investors. Our private equity offering was established in 2016 as a conventional private equity structure and evolved to an offering to retail clients in 2019, this is 8 years of investing, managing, sustaining and exiting client capital investments.
Over this time Everest Wealth has invested just under R3 billion of clients’ capital into a diverse portfolio of private companies, spanning multiple sectors, subsectors and jurisdictions, giving clients a truly diversified investment portfolio – this process supported by identifying, qualifying, acquiring, managing, growing and exiting investment assets, with already multiple successful exits of investment assets at positive returns on investment.
This R3 billion has not only delivered consistent aggregated returns of profit to investors, but has also grown into a stable capital base, with valuations of:

Second view
Promoting client capital preservation – these valuations are reviewed and tested by an external team of legal professionals, company appointed auditors and a mergers and acquisitions team that has over 30 years of experience not only in South Africa, but the UK, UAE and Mauritius.
Blending the art and science of alternative investing also means understanding that it takes layers of professionals to ensure a unique client investment experience and value offering. Such value delivered not only by Everest’s solutions, but financial advice professionals. Such professionals who are independent of Everest and scrutinise, evaluate and test the suitability of our solutions for their clients.
After 5 years of understanding, engaging and listening to our clients Everest further launched a Living Annuity solution to investors, which not only added to the professional value chain insofar as a registered life insurer issuance, but also gave investors the ability to enter Everest solutions.
Such Everest solutions which do not promote being the highest returning portfolio’s, but rather as consistent as possible ensuring clients in the Everest Living Annuities are able to give greater focus on the more critical investment risks associated with investments such as consistency of return as opposed to fluctuating capital oriented investments, of which such capital orientated investments may outperform over long term periods, but for which capital is consistently lost due to fees and income required when traditional markets are at times underperforming.
Third vision
Committed to the evolution of our solutions, Everest is further expanding its offering to ensure clients can access a unique blend of alternative investments as well as traditional investments. This gives financial advisors the ability to more accurately blend suitable products to clients’ needs as the needs and risks of one client is different to the needs and risks of another.
Everest is also empowering clients by expanding its alternative investment solutions into the private credit space which is a market segment with over $2.1 trillion invested globally.
Everest remains committed to its philosophy of low fees and ease of doing business and as such has also started the process of investigating the rendering of its private equity and soon private credit offering to become accessible as on offering on multiple of the South African stock exchanges. Everest further has started the process of investigating the making available on a South African stock exchange, the ability for clients to invest into Everest’s expansion into new solution lines other than just investments, showing our commitment to becoming a full, but still greatly unique, mammoth financial service business, and a business that is here for the long term and walks the total value journey with our clients.
Everest Wealth continues to drive the focus to ensure it remains unique and differentiated. As Albert Einstein rightfully said insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result”. Financial advisors and clients investing in the same thing over and over, creates no diversity of investment or differing outcomes.
