MTN signs game-changing deal with China Telecom and Huawei
MTN has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with China Telecom and Huawei that will help MTN unlock new business opportunities and enable South Africa to benefit from enhanced technology.
China Telecom is one of the world’s largest integrated telecommunication services providers, while Huawei is a global giant regarding networks, telecommunications, and smartphones.
Therefore, according to MTN SA Chief Enterprise Business Officer Tumi Sekhukhune-Chamayou, the MOU will allow for strategic collaboration to enhance MTN’s offerings in ICT, Business-to-Business solutions, the Cloud, IoT, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Kai Chen, executive vice president of China Telecom Global Limited, said the partnership will accelerate digital transformation and connectivity on the African continent.
“This partnership unites China Telecom’s global expertise in network solutions with MTN’s expansive regional reach and Huawei’s advanced technology, creating a powerful alliance to drive digital infrastructure development on the continent,” said Chen.
He said the partners will all work to provide robust connectivity and innovative solutions to empower the African market.
“This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to bridging the digital divide and supporting sustainable economic growth in Africa,” he said.
Bringing value to MTN Business clients
MTN said the MOU promotes collaboration with China Telecom and Huawei across a broad spectrum of activities.
Customers will soon benefit from enhanced access to technologies like IoT and AI, as well as new products and streamlined services.
“For MTN’s business customers, network service improvements could offer new possibilities in smart mining and industrial applications,” said Sekhukhune-Chamayou.
“These network developments will boost the digital transformation of vital economic sectors which rely on robust connectivity to achieve their objectives.”
She added that the business benefits and advantages will create an environment that will strengthen MTN’s role as a leader in technological innovation.
It will also support MTN’s aggressive growth strategy in key verticals, industry-specific markets, and innovative industries.
“By joining forces with two technology giants, MTN is well-positioned through the expanded capabilities to offer diversified and advanced services in a rapidly evolving digital landscape to a broader base of individuals and enterprises,” said Skhukhune-Chamayou.
“This will position MTN as a strong competitor in South Africa’s telecommunications industry.”
