Ignite targets small business with new LTE-A offerings

 ·31 Jul 2017

Ignite, an internet and communication technology services provider focused on South African SMEs, says it has added LTE-A services via the Rain network to its connectivity offering.

Ignite is the result of three companies that merged in April 2016: IS Ignite, MWEB Business and the IS SME Business Unit.

The group said that SMEs will be able to enjoy speeds of up to 100Mbps, depending on their distance from the nearest tower and congestion on the network.

It noted that there are currently 750 active base stations in Rain’s LTE-A network, which extends across South Africa’s major metropolitan centres, and this number is expected to reach 5,000 base stations as early as 2018.

SMEs can select one of three month-to-month packages:

  • LTE-A Starter – 55GB LTE-A for R549 per month
  • LTE-A Advanced – 85GB LTE-A for R799 per month
  • LTE-A Premium – 120GB LTE-A for R999 per month

Ignite’s first 250 LTE-A customers will pay just R999 for installation and setup fee, including a Huawei B618 router, discounted from the standard fee of R1,999.

Top-up data is available via Ignite’s self-service portal:

  • 1 GB – R35
  • 2 GB – R59
  • 3 GB – R80
  • 5 GB – R115
  • 10 GB – R205
  • 20 GB – R345

Ignite stressed that there is no contractual lock-in as LTE-A connectivity is billed month-to-month.
