Amazon’s big HQ plans
Amazon.com is currently looking to expand its headquarter operations in Seattle with construction plans which will cover three blocks, and include sprouting up 3 tower skyscrapers.
According to a report by the Seattle Times, the proposed new skyscrapers will stand out from the surrounding city scape by adopting bright and bold colours – a design which will cover all the buildings part of the planned expansion.
Additionally, according to Vulcan Real Estate, Amazon will buy 11 buildings that the South Lake Union developer built as part of the online retailer’s Seattle headquarters.
In the deal, Amazon will pay Vulcan $1.16 billion for 11 buildings which contain 1.8 million square feet in South Lake Union in Seattle. These will be Amazon’s first owned buildings with the entire project occupying a reported total of 3.3 million square feet.
According to the Times, construction on the first cluster of buildings – which includes the three skyscrapers – could begin as early as next year.
