South African online retailer, Takealot.com, has launched its own daily deals website.

Called Savealot Daily Deals, the new service aims to provide two deals every day, offering up 70% in savings on items across all 14 of Takealot’s departments.

“Our Daily Deals offering is another way of treating our valued customers to even bigger and better savings across our wide range of categories, ” said Takealot merchandise executive, Grant Webster.

“Each deal is open for a 12 hour period or while stocks are still available, meaning that customers will need to ‘seal the deal’ quickly to secure their order. The cherry on top is that all Daily Deals include free shipping, straight to your door.”

The new service follows a string of new developments at the online retailer, which includes the launch of its mobile shopping app for smartphones, as well as acquiring a 60% in courier service, Mr D (formerly Mister Delivery).

The Takealot mobile app for Android and iOS joined the BlackBerry 10 app the company previously lauched to provide customers direct access to the retailer’s online catalogue.

The app allows users to browse and shop – and features a barcode scanner that allows customers to “window shop” in physical retail stores and price check goods on Takealot.
