PayU, a mobile and online payment service provider has announced a partnership that enables online businesses to accept Ukash as an additional online payment method.

PayU SafeShop, an established payment processing product, now enables online businesses to securely accept and process 11 different payment methods, including Ukash.

Online merchants can enable Ukash payments on their websites by requesting PayU to enable the capability for their shopping basket, the group said.

“Customers who do not have credit cards want to enjoy the cost saving and convenience of shopping online. Our partnership with Ukash enables online businesses to service cash customers who previously could not be reached, as well as open up a whole new market for these businesses”, said Mark Chirnside, CEO PayU MEA.

PayU also processes online payments via its payment gateway, PayU SafeShop, for Groupon, Kalahari.com, NetFlorist and four major airlines, among others.

Globally, Ukash is active in more than 50 countries. Ukash customers can redeem vouchers  at 25 South African online retailers directly, including iBurst, Ladbrokes,  Flowers.co.za, Interactive Sports, ClickBay, Smokoo, Yarona Healthcare and others.

David Hunter, CEO of Ukash said: “Partnering with PayU was a natural choice for us. By integrating with SafeShop payment gateway, we can now offer our customers access to most of the major South African airlines and leading online retailers, and empower everyone to use cash electronically”.
