MICROmega buys smart meter company
Sebata Municipal Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of MICROmega Holdings, has acquired a controlling stake (51%) in Amanzi Meters, a South African manufacturer of water management and metering products.
Through a partnership with Amanzi, Sebata is now offering its clients a water management solution to bring water losses under control- amongst other functions.
“This acquisition is in line with MICROmega’s strategy to grow its information technology group of companies”, said Greg Morris, CEO of MICROmega.
“Local Municipalities and Utilities are facing water losses in the region of billions of Rands and are now turning to smart metering, automated meter reading and pre-paid meters to recover some of these losses.”
“Accordingly, a requirement of local government for 2014 is to cut water losses by half. Through this acquisition Sebata now offers a domestic water management solution that aims to assist municipalities with meeting this arduous task.”
“Our revenue enhancing strategy now includes providing water management systems by way of smart meter readings with prepaid functionality, leak detection, and real time control to assist our clients with bringing their water losses and demand management under control,” said Dylan Strydom, MD of Sebata.
Sebata also offers a meter reading solution enabling real-time collection of meter reading data from the field by using cellular technology, a smart water solution for the supply of Intelligent Metering Services with prepaid functionality, and Automated Meter Reading (AMR).
