This is how much you should be paying for your next airline ticket in SA
New data from online booking service, Travelstart, shows how air travel fares have been redeuced over the past few years for domestic flights in South Africa.
Comparing January and February 2016 flight prices from those in 2015 and 2014, Travelstart found that no single (OneWay) flight exceeded an average R2,000, while some popular routes dipped under the R1,000 on average, unlike prior years.
Travelstart’s data is based on paid, OneWay bookings made on its website, while the fare amounts includes base fare and tax.
Comparing January and February 2016 flight prices from a year ago, it found that nine routes out of 14 analyzed, are cheaper than last year’s prices.
Routes from Durban to Johannesburg and Cape Town, and from Joburg to Cape Town and Durban have shown massive declines, more than R500 per fare.
