SA airline named most punctual in the world
Low-cost carrier FlySafair has been named the most on-time airline in the world by airline analyst site OAG.
The list is calculated twice yearly, in April and October, and is based on 12 months’ rolling data (data required for each month). The ratings aim to be as inclusive as possible, reflecting the varied strategies, business models and objectives of the world’s airlines and airports.
Therefore the two criteria airlines must meet to be eligible for a star are – all airlines and airports must have a minimum of 600 operations a month and OAG must receive flight status information for no less than 80% of scheduled flights.
“OTP (On-Time Performance) has become an increasingly important measure of overall performance. It reflects the reliability and efficiency of the airline, and ultimately the reputation of the brand. An airline’s schedule is the measure of its promise to their customer, said FlySafair CEO Elmar Conradie speaking to Fin24.
“This shows that we are ready to compete with the best.”
