Takealot announces Black Friday plans for 2026
Takealot has announced dates for its Black Friday deals, which will start from the beginning of November across several categories.
The online retailer said its Black Friday specials would start on 26 October and continue until 23 November, leading to its main day of specials on 27 November.
These specials will rotate each week, with flash sales also happening throughout November for participating brands.
“From 26 October to 23 November 2026, South Africans can look forward to new Black Friday-priced deals across a range of categories every week,” Takealot said.
“Partner brands like L’Oreal, NYX, Clarins, Xiaomi, Haleon and Canon will also be dropping flash sales throughout the month, while stocks last.”
While the company said Black Friday deals would occur throughout the month, 27 November would still be the major event for the specials.
Takealot Chief Marketing Officer, Karla Levick, said the Black Friday deals would start at midnight that day.
“This year, we’re bringing Black Friday-priced deals across the entire month of November so our customers can shop on their terms and at their pace – but Black Friday on 27 November is still the main event, with exclusive deals landing that day from midnight,” Levick said.
Takealot first participated in Black Friday in 2012, when it was a single-day event, and the event has expanded over the years.
The company said that extending its Black Friday deals across one month was in response to consumer trends it had noted on its platform.
“Takealot has responded to South African shoppers’ needs by extending the Black Friday shopping experience to an entire month,” the company said.
“This will afford South African shoppers more time, more choice and more ways to find the deals they’re looking for.”
Today, Takealot has over 5 million users across South Africa and facilitates over 1 billion product searches annually.
The company also noted that since January 2026, its delivery drivers had driven a combined total of 43 million kilometres, the equivalent of over 1,000 laps around the Earth’s equator.
The most popular products on Takealot

Along with announcing dates for its Black Friday specials, Takealot also provided several data points, including the most popular items sold on its platform during Black Friday 2025.
The company’s data showed that consumers have a strong interest across a range of categories, particularly tech, homeware, and beauty.
The company said there is “strong and sustained interest across tech, homeware, beauty and everyday essentials, with products ranging from washing machines and TVs to air fryers, furniture, beauty, toys and household staples among the platform’s most searched and purchased categories.”
It also noted that the province most likely to shop on its platform at midnight is Gauteng, followed by the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
Some products also become increasingly popular at different times of day, such as digital products, including airtime.
“Digital products such as airtime and vouchers are particularly popular between 2–4 AM,” Takealot said.
“This 24/7 behaviour reflects the flexibility of online shopping – and the need for delivery options that work around the customer”.
During last year’s Black Friday, Takealot saw high interest in tech-related products, as well as appliances and everyday essentials.
The company’s most-purchased products from Black Friday 2025 were separated into two categories and not listed in any particular order.
