The SABC has appointed its current chief financial officer, James Aguma, as its new acting CEO, following the resignation of former acting CEO, Jimi Matthews on Monday.
In his resignation letter, Matthews said his “immediate resignation” is due to the fact that he can be more effective outside of the SABC than working in it.
He said the “corrosive atmosphere” has impacted negatively on his moral judgement, which made him “complicit in many decisions” he is not proud of.
Aguma was appointed as CFO in 2015, having been acting CFO since March 2014. He was previously in charge of strategy and audit matters for the public broadcaster.
