South African internet TV service ShowMax launches in Europe
ShowMax, an online subscription video on demand (SVOD) service has expanded its service to Europe, with the company launching in Poland.
The Naspers owned company launched in South Africa in August 2015.
“This new service is closely tailored to local needs, with a strong focus on Polish content – including original productions commissioned by ShowMax,” said ShowMax.
Polish TV shows and movies will feature strongly on the service.
The service will be branded ShowMax and utilise the current ShowMax platform and Polish language apps.
“For the launch, ShowMax has acquired exclusive rights to a range of popular local shows, including political satire Ucho Prezesa (Ear of the Chairman).”
“This is a big deal for us, especially coming just 18 months after we launched ShowMax. With more than seven million people paying for online video in Poland, this is an exciting market,” said ShowMax CEO John Kotsaftis.
