“I have done well for the SABC”: Motsoeneng
SABC acting chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng was ordained as a priest at the weekend, The New Age reported on Monday.
“Personally, I think it’s important that people can see that I have done well. If you look at my history I am a very caring person,” Motsoeneng was quoted as saying after being awarded a Christian fellowship diploma at the University of the Free State.
“I care for people and that is what God wants. I have also done well for the SABC. I think that churches should help people when it comes to issues of culture and ubuntu.”
Motsoeneng said a real education was more important than a tertiary education.
“We need people who are educated and not certificated.”
In February, Public Protector Thuli Madonsela released a report which found Motsoeneng’s appointment irregular. Motsoeneng’s salary had also increased from R1.5 million to R2.4m in one year.
Madonsela found that Motsoeneng had fraudulently misrepresented his qualifications — that he passed matric — to the SABC when he applied for a job.
