Times Media Group (TMG) says it will launch several new digital sites in the coming months, including Sunday Times online and Rand Daily Mail online.

Currently the Sunday Times runs a paywall digital edition for paying subscribers.

On Tuesday (23 September), the group pointed to a modest rise in revenue for the year ended June 2014, to R3.995 billion, from R3.831 billion before.

Profit from operations increased to R359 million, from R27 million in 2013.

The group declared a final gross dividend of 35 cents per ordinary share.

“The 12 months to 30 June 2014 has been a difficult period operationally, given the tough trading environment. During the year, we continued to reposition and restructure the business, making several acquisitions and selling non-core assets,” Times Media said.

TMG’s media assets reside primarily in print with its brands including Sunday Times, The Times, Sowetan, Business Day and Financial Mail.

Digital titles already include BDLive, TimesLive, and SowetanLive.

Earlier this month, the group launched a video-on-demand business, Vidi, offering two options: an all-inclusive Unlimited Subscription to a library of movies and TV series for only R149 per month, or movie rentals only, at R27 a pop.
