Google South Africa has announced the launch of its Play Movie service into the South African market.
Available as of midnight on 17 February, Google Play Movies allows South Africans to rent or purchase movies for watching on their phones, tablets, computers and smart TVs.
Full-length movies are available from all the major Hollywood studios, Google said.
Movies are available to purchase or rent from R19.99, Google said, although new releases are priced at between R29.99 – R34.99. The company’s website shows that some older releases are available at R11.99.
Once rented, you will have 30 days to watch most movies, and 48 hours to finish watching once you’ve hit the ‘play’ button.
One can also buy a new release for R149.99.
Google Play movies features new releases, classics and everything in between. “Local movies are not yet available but Google SA hopes to make these available soon,” it said.
