Mercedes-Benz has launched the new V-Class V300d Special Edition in South Africa with a starting price of R2,190,000.

The new V300d is available exclusively to the South African market and is limited in supply, making it the most exclusive release ever by Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa.

According to the head of Product & Marketing for Mercedes-Benz SA, Marinus Venter, the V-Class Special Edition offers  “space, comfort, safety, and luxury on the road, with its feel-good ambience, advanced driving technology, and eye-catching finish”.

What’s special about this exclusive model

Exclusive finishes to the new V300d Special Edition include black wheels and an AMG-branded roof box for additional storage alongside the 542 litres already provided by the cabin.

According to Mercedes-Benz SA, the van is available in three exterior colours only, including a model-exclusive Sodalite Blue Metallic.

Inside the cabin, the van boats plenty of luxury comforts that one would expect from the German brand, including:

  • Automatic doors;
  • Six leather-clad seats;
  • Ambient lighting;
  • Temperature-controlled cupholders;
  • Voice control via the MBUX infotainment system with smartphone mirroring; and
  • A 3.2-litre refrigerated compartment.

The driver can also expect the latest driver-assist features such as active cruise control with distance assist, lane-keep assist, blind-spot assist, crosswind assist, attention assist, active brake assist, and the pre-safe package.

This pre-safe package can detect an imminent collision and prepare the cabin accordingly by, for example, tightening all the seatbelts and closing the windows before impact.

Performance

The Mercedes V-Class V300d is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine with a nine-gear automatic gearbox, producing 174kW of power and 500Nm of torque.

Each Special Edition is sold with a 7-year/140,000km Premium Drive maintenance plan, and they are “now available for purchase in South Africa,” said Venter.
