All the small crossover SUVs you can buy for under R300,000 in South Africa right now

 ·24 Mar 2024

There are currently seven crossovers across six different brands in South Africa that can be purchased for under R300,000.

Crossover vehicles are an excellent choice for those seeking a blend of practicality and performance. They typically offer more space and storage capacity than a typical hatchback, making them ideal for families.

Despite being larger than a standard hatchback, they have decent fuel efficiency when compared to regular SUVs.

Moreover, they are easier to manoeuvre in tight parking spaces and traffic congestion, making them a great option for city living.

As an added bonus, the price of crossover SUVs is becoming more affordable, making them more accessible to a wider range of consumers.

In 2023, the most popular passenger vehicle segment went through a major shift after losing some of its prominent models, such as the Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Ford EcoSport.

However, there are still a few options available for budget-conscious consumers.

The Suzuki Ignis is currently the most affordable mini SUV on the market in 2024, priced at R224,900.

In second is the popular Nissan Magnite, followed by its architectural twin, the Renault Kiger, which is now noticeably more expensive with a price gap of R17,500 between the two.

As a result, a newcomer, the Citroen C3, has managed to sneak into third place, despite currently having only two specifications. However, an automatic option for this vehicle is expected to be available in the near future.

In addition to these vehicles, there are also the Mahindra XUV300, as well as two other fresh faces in the form of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro LiT and the Suzuki Fronx.

Both of these vehicles were introduced by their respective brands with the aim of providing a more affordable option to their line-ups.
