OMODA has officially launched the new OMODA C9 in South Africa.

The new flagship model will be available from launch in two generously equipped derivatives.

The C9 is offered in both front- (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) forms.

The C9 FWD’s official retail price is R785,900.00, while the C9 AWD is R885,900.00.

As part of the launch promotion, the FWD will be available for just R760,000.00 (R25,900 off) and the AWD for only R860,000.00 (R25,900 off) for the first month of sales.

OMODA’s flagship model has a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that delivers 192 kW and 400 Nm through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

“We’re excited to officially launch the cutting-edge new flagship OMODA C9, which we’re convinced will turn heads with its cutting-edge yet elegant styling and an immensely long list of standard luxury features,” said Shannon Gahagan from OMODA & JAECOO South Africa.

The OMODA C9 FWD derivative has a lengthy list of standard equipment, such as 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, black leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats (with heating and ventilation), a heated steering wheel and dual-zone climate control.

Other features include a combined 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, an 8-speaker Sony sound system, wireless smartphone charging, a head-up display, parking sensors, a 540-degree camera system, multi-colour ambient cabin lighting and a raft of highly advanced driver-assistance safety features.

The OMODA C9 AWD variant, on the other hand, adds luxury features, such as adaptive suspension, off-road driving modes, Nappa leather upholstery, a black-and-brown interior colour scheme, red brake callipers, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, an integrated fragrance system and an adaptive front lighting system.

The new OMODA C9 has a standard 7-year/100,000 km service plan, a 7-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty, and a 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty (for the first owner).

OMODA was founded in 2022 and operates in several markets worldwide already.

It was established as an independent brand within the Chinese-based Chery Group.

In addition to the C9, the OMODA range in South Africa currently comprises six derivatives of the C5, including a limited-edition GT model.

The fully electric E5 will land in South Africa later this year.

OMODA currently has 39 dedicated dealerships across South Africa, with carefully selected coverage around the nation’s major metros.

The new brand is backed by the Chery Group’s well-established parts warehouse and customer-care office.
