A look at the R38 million house for sale on South Africa’s ‘Millionaire Row’

A 4-bedroom house in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape, is on the market for R38 million.

According to the latest African Wealth Report by Henley&Partners and New World Wealth, the Garden Route on South Africa’s South Coast is home to 3,200 high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs)—those with liquid wealth exceeding $1 million (roughly R19 million).

Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route is a highly popular area for the affluent, with Beachy Head Drive being dubbed “Africa’s Millionaire Row.”

Seeff, which is selling the property alongside Helen Melon Properties and Lew Geffen Sotheby’s, said that the R38 million property is in a highly sought-after enclave, with properties in the area rarely coming onto the market.

The property features direct access to Robberg Beach, which is a major boost for South Africans looking for a coastal lifestyle.

The property also has three bathrooms, a guest toilet, open-plan living areas on covered patios and an entertainment area.

The property also includes a self-contained flatlet with an en-suite bedroom, living area, and kitchenette, a double garage, staff accommodation, and a lock-up storeroom.

“The property presents an exciting opportunity for potential buyers to build their own home. This means you can customize your dream residence to your exact specifications and preferences,” said Seeff.

Depending on the design of a future design, the property could have a view that stretches from the Robberg peninsula nature reserve to the Tsitsikamma Mountains.

Seeff said that properties in the area also tend to appreciate in value over time.

“Being in a highly sought-after enclave, you can also expect a certain level of privacy and exclusivity, which is often a key consideration for discerning buyers.”
