Sandhurst is one of the most expensive suburbs in South Africa, with millionaires drawn to the area.

Seeff previously said that Clifton is the most expensive suburb in South Africa, commanding an average selling price of R25 million. The highest price achieved in 2023 was a whopping R150 million.

Following Clifton is Bantry Bay (R22 million) in second and Llandudno (R19.95 million) in third – both along the Atlantic Seaboard.

The only suburb outside of Cape Town in the top ten is Sandhurst, with an average home price of R19 million.

The latest African Wealth Report 2024 by Henley & Partners and New World Wealth showed that 12,300 of South Africa’s 37,400 high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs)—those with liquid wealth exceeding US$1 million (about R18 million)—are found in Johannesburg.

“Most of Johannesburg’s top-end wealth is concentrated in the suburbs surrounding Sandton City Shopping Centre, which has been dubbed ‘the richest square mile in Africa’,” said the report.

“In particular, the Sandton suburbs of Sandhurst, Hyde Park, and Inanda are all home to large numbers of HNWIs.”
