The most in-demand skills in South Africa’s job market right now
CareerJunction has released an updated list of the most in-demand skills according to employer requirements in March 2017.
The data is based on over 25,000 jobs currently indexed across the site, and the preferences of over 3,000 recruitment agencies and employers.
Unsurprisingly, IT has continued to be the biggest growth industry in the current labour market noted the report, with a strong demand for skills and only a handful of candidates that meet the requirements.
“When taking a closer look at the thousands of jobs listed online you’ll discover that many of these jobs are IT-related, every fourth one to be exact,” said Paul Byrne, MD of CareerJunction.
“We’ve seldom seen this type of continuous growth in demand for a particular skill set in the last year and a half. The last year alone has seen a growth in IT jobs of more than 18%.”
Byrne went on to say that software developers are by far at the top of recruiters’ most wanted list, as the majority of IT jobs are allocated to them. They are followed by business analysts, system and network administrators and system analysts who are also high on the list.
How much they earn
In addition to setting out the most in-deman skills right now, Byrne also highlighted the average monthly salaries one could expect in these positions based on CareerJunction data. All off the salaries are based on what an employee could expect to earn working at an “intermediate level”.
