Nashua Mobile jumps on app bus

Nashua Mobile says it has become the first telecommunications service provider in South Africa to launch a smartphone application for all major handset operating systems.

Nashua Mobile, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSE-listed Reunert Group, says its new app enables customers to interact with the company directly from their mobile phones.

The app enables customers to view their current spend, evaluate how much airtime, SMS and data they have used within the current month, and check their eligibility for an upgrade. “You will also be able to use the interactive store locator to find your nearest Nashua Mobile store,” it said.

The new app is available as a free download on the Apple App Store, Android Google Play, BlackBerry App World and Windows Phone Marketplace.

Nashua says the ability to buy prepaid airtime and other services directly from a phone is also planned for release shortly.

The App is designed and optimised for BlackBerry, Apple iOS, Windows Phone 7 and all Android versions. It will become available to the Nokia Store on Nokia Symbian smartphones soon, the group said.

Chris Radley, MD at Nashua Mobile: “The development of this new app falls in line with our focus on making life as easy and convenient for our customers as possible. The app features robust security and an intuitive look and feel, making it a safe and fast way for customers to access information and services from Nashua Mobile.”

“What could be easier than managing your telecommunications needs straight from your phone, whenever you need to?”
