MTN has launched a two-tier model for out-of-bundle pricing, offering low-usage subscribers a cheaper rate.
Dubbed “Steppa”, subscribers who consistently use less than 5MB of out-of-bundle data per month will be offered a rate of R0.29 per MB.
When you use more than 5MB of OOB data, the rate increases to R0.60 per MB – provided a subscriber has opted in.
To opt in , subscribers must dial the USSD code *130*1#. This is a once-off procedure.
The new rates will become available from 1 December.
MTN has also launched a new prepaid 1GB data bundle priced at R50. This bundle will only be available through the MyMTN app.
