UK international phone call provider, DialToSave has listed the 10 richest telecoms executives in the world, with América Móvil boss, and world’s second richest man, Carlos Helu Slim ruling the roost.

According to the site, Helu has amassed a personal wealth of US$73 billion, tied manily to his holding in América Móvil, worth US$36.3 billion.

América Móvil has more than tripled its customer base since 2005, from 66 million customers in South America, to almost 252 million customers worldwide.

Helu’s $73 billion fortune almost matched the combined fortune of the 9 other executives listed by DTS, which totals US$76.2 billion.

Helu’s closest telecom rival is on of Russian teleco VimpelCom’s largest shareholders, Alfa group’s Mikhail Fridman, worth US$16.5 billion.Other Alfa group investors, Alexei Kuzmichev and Pyotr Aven rank as the 5th and 9th richest, with a US$8.2 billion and US$5.4 billion fortune, respectively

VimpelCom is the 6th largest telecom company in the world, according to the report, with a market cap of US$19 billion, serving 214 million customers.
