ARC Telecoms in acquisition talks?

 ·13 Mar 2012

Industry rumours suggest that ARC Telecoms is in discussions with a large ICT provider regarding a potential acquisition of the company.

ARC Telecoms was launched in September 2010, and focuses on the small and medium business (SMB) sector with a range of converged voice and IP data telecommunications products.

The company currently has 30 employees, with a head office in Johannesburg and a satellite team in Cape Town.

ARC Telecoms was one of the companies which received an investment from World of Avatar, headed up by Alan Knott-Craig junior. The company’s shareholding was split between the three directors – Steve Briggs, Michele McCann and Paven Chetty – and World of Avatar.

ARC Telecoms CEO, Steve Briggs, would not confirm or deny the rumours, but did say that the company is looking at new partnerships.

“As part of the course of business, ARC Telecoms regularly engages in strategic discussions with potential partners. We are thus not able to comment on rumours,” says Briggs.

The Jasco group was mentioned as a party which is looking at an investment in ARC Telecoms, but the company would also not confirm or deny the discussions.

“The Jasco Group does not comment on any industry speculation. However, as and when we need to communicate to our markets of any news relating to the company, we ensure that the media is aware of these announcements and engage with them willingly,” said Jasco’s Samantha Samuels.
