ANC birthday cake spelling blunder
In excess of 120,000 people were expected to attend the 104th birthday celebrations of the ANC in Rustenburg this weekend.
Festivities kicked off on Friday with ANC president Jacob Zuma and other ANC officials cutting the ANC Legacy 104 cake.
An image taken by The Citizen before the ceremony appears to show the birthday cake with an incorrect spelling of the word “anniversary”.
Subsequent images of the cake, shortly before it was cut, show that attempts were made to amend the error.
President Zuma delivered a statement at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday, admitting that this year’s local government elections are going to be one of the toughest for the ANC.
“The ANC is preparing for local government elections. We have done a lot to change the face of local government and improve services. We will be going to our people to hear what else they want us to do to further improve local government.”
