CCTV footage shows crazy SA taxi crash

A new video has emerged showing a minibus taxi narrowly avoiding a truck, before smashing into a Toyota Tazz, parked at a petrol station.
CCTV footage taken from the petrol station shows how the taxi driver loses control of his vehicle after an apparent brake failure.
The minibus slams into a parked Toyota, before the driver climbs out the window and brings the taxi to a halt.
It is believed that nobody was seriously injured in the accident which is said to have taken place in Phoenix, north of Durban.
The footage comes after Transport Minister Dipuo Peters announced on Monday that fatal road traffic accidents increased by 11% over the festive period – between 1 December 2015 to 11 January 2016 – to 1,387.
The minister said that there were 220 more deaths over that period, up by 14% from the prior festive season, to 1,755 people killed.
Small motor vehicles accounted for 47.9% of total crashes, followed by light vehicles at 22.7%, mini buses at 10.1%, and trucks at 4.1%.
