IT and telecoms job trends in SA
CareerJunction released its May 2012 CareerJunction Index (CJI) recently, revealing that there is a growing demand for Information Technology (IT) and telecommunications professionals in South Africa.
The CareerJunction Index provides an analysis of the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market, using data gathered from the CareerJunction website.
According to the May 2012 CJI report, it is stated that there was higher employment activity during the month of May – which indicates better employment prospects among job seekers.
Information Technology
While employment within the IT industry dropped since February 2012, the year-on-year employment in the IT sector strengthened by 25%.
Telecommunications
According to the CJI report, job ad volumes within the South African telecommunications industry have increased steadily over the last 4 months.
“The sector seems to be recovering slowly from a 3-month strong dip in employment. Year-on-year, employment has strengthened by 25%,” the CJI report states.
